It can be tricky to think creatively, and it can be even harder to not adhere to societal norms while doing so. Fernanda Lopez, DMSB’20, did both, taking a risk by using a hot pink and purple resume when applying for a position at a global private equity firm. Fernanda thought, most importantly, the role called for someone who loves fast-paced environments, thinks outside of the box, and has a passion for learning about technology—which describes her in real life and now on paper, too. Her unique approach boded well, helping her through several rounds of interviews.⁣

Read Fernanda’s full story through the link in our bio and let it inspire you to be more open to change, try something new, and always stay true to yourself, even if it’s not what others are doing!⁣

Northeastern graduate student Karen Fayad is working with Jobs for Lebanon, a U.S.-based charity created in her home country that partners with organizations like UNICEF in response to a variety of crises.⁣

Supporting the country and its people has always been a priority for Karen, as Lebanon was in crisis long before the recent explosion in its capital. This month, she has been working closely with Northeastern University President Joseph E. Aoun, who was born and raised in Lebanon, a country the pair cherishes. The duo is confident that Lebanon has the strength and resilience to come out on the other side of this tragedy, and Karen plans to return one day as an engineer to continue aiding in its restoration.⁣

Times are tough, but it’s important to remember that we will get through this together. To feel reassured, inspired, and encouraged about what’s to come, we highly recommend the article “5 Steps That Each Of Us Can Take To Proactively Help Heal Our Country” by Alexandra Spirer, featuring Marjorie Radlo-Zandi, DMSB’83. In the article, Marjorie shares her insight on overcoming obstacles in the workplace; why she believes leadership is more about helping others be the best version of themselves, as opposed to serving ourselves; how her temperament, grit, and resilience have provided countless opportunities to advance in her career; and much more.⁣
