Students choose Northeastern’s School of Law for the unique opportunity to work in multiple professional settings, and for our unwavering commitment to helping lawyers build a more just society.

Through our signature Cooperative Legal Education Program, students are immersed in full-time legal work around the world. As they alternate between the classroom and co-op, they gain the knowledge and skills, ethical understanding, and cultural awareness they need to serve clients well. They also receive direct exposure to a profession radically transformed by technology—and to a global economy where lawyers must work within, and provide legal representation for, complex organizations.

With your support, we will embed innovative thinking and new technologies into our educational offerings to help students deliver legal services in more effective, efficient, and economical ways. We will build interdisciplinary programs that place the law within the larger mosaic of the global economy. We will recruit and advance outstanding new faculty from diverse backgrounds. And we will back scholarships, stipends for unpaid and overseas co-ops, and loan forgiveness, empowering students to pursue important, fulfilling careers.

“As dean, my goals are to keep that sense of what initially attracted me to Northeastern: that sense of community, the belief in social justice, the strong tradition of public interest lawyering as the core of the School of Law. And building upon that, to have leadership in areas that have emerged that are critical to policy and that dovetail into the school’s historic mission.”

—James Hackney, Dean
